I would go with a 4231 to get width in the midfield to stress out Netherland's usually narrow one. This formation also allows us to have 3 CMs who can help combat to keep possession. Johannsson is not an ideal lone striker, but he has been too electric with his club to not start. Diskerud I believe is more effective in a more advanced role in the final third than Bradley is. Bradley is at his best from a deeper role where he can spread the ball around, hit the occasional magic long ball, and make delayed runs into the box. Johnson and Yedlin give us speed on the flanks. I am not a fan of putting a CM (Morales, Williams, or Diskerud) at RM in this formation, and view Zardes as not technically skilled enough to play here against the Netherlands. Aguedelo may be a better option than Yedlin at RM, but he is an unknown at that position right now. I prefer Beckerman to Morales in this game because of his proven defensive abilities (the CBs will have their hands full with Van Persie, Huntlaar, ect...). Williams I do not see as technically gifted enough to help keep possession against the likes of the Netherlands. Orozco has been a stud for us since the World Cup. This will be a good trial by fire for Shea to see if he can really handle the LB position against the highest level of technically gifted wingers. Guzan has been benched by Aston Villa for an old Given and was horrid in goal before then, so I am giving Yarbough the nod (Rimando has not been good in 2015 for the USMNT).
