This is classic total football, or totalvoetbal, a la Johan Cruijff. In the attacking phase the players will be constantly rotating from defense to forward to back, though the "football square" shape in the middle of the park is to be rigidly adhered to at all times. This is to simplify the transitional phase for the defensive phase. With multiple goalkeepers on the pitch, and not starting in goal, we allow for complete tactical flexibility with a solid defensive structure at all points on the field. The lone striker is the only player not looking to fit into the "football square", he will have complete freedom to roam all around the pitch, acting interchangeably as a striker or sweeper as necessary. He may also join the "football square" at any line, freeing up any player to play the "seeker" position.
