The Americans will be going to the World Cup this year without the most famous name in US history in Landon Donovan. The 32 year old was not among the 23 selected to go to Brazil by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann. This being, the Americans will go up front with two strikers in Jozy Altidore and Clint Dempsey. Both should play off each other very nicely. The midfield from left to right: Diskerud, Bradley , and Zusi will look to create most of the offense in the middle of the field and the strikers will most likely go as the midfield goes. Diskerud could be swapped with Bedoya by the time the Americans get to Brazil. Jermaine Jones is the last man standing before the American defense. Klinsmann going with the new format means Jones will play a physical role in trying to shut down some of the opponents attack and playing back while Bradley does much of the creating. The defense with Johnson, Besler, Gonzalez, and Chandler is very inexperienced and will have to give everything they have to maximize their potential. Gonzalez is expected to anchor that backline and be Jurgen's most reliable defenseman. And in goal the always reliable Tim Howard who will be making the start in between the pipes. This is just a projected starting XI. Nothing official.
