The European squad comes into Cleveland and shows the American team how much it needs to improve. Jurgen Klinsmann thinks the loss ain't no thang, sort of, while everyone else freaks out per usual.

  • The United States national team lost 4-2 to Belgium. Sadness. It was an ugly performance featuring brilliance by the opposition and tentativeness from the home side. But Geoff Cameron scored:

  • A few positives: Stuart Holden and DaMarcus Beasley.
  • Jurgen Klinsmann responded to the beatdown with his typically sunny form, saying "When you lose them it’s not such a big pleasure, but I’d rather play Belgium 10 more times than El Salvador for the 100th time, because that’s where you learn." And you know what? He's right and he's the best for saying it.

  • But still, a butt whoopin'. Want to relive the "drama"? The Guardian liveblog will scratch that masochistic itch.

  • Luckily, Germany awaits on Sunday. The Americans have had more success at RFK Stadium:
  • They will also get Michael Bradley back, a player whose presence was sorely missed on Wednesday night.

  • Oh, and a bunch of Americans played on Wednesday, highlighted by Mix Diskerud's 23-minute stint in Rosenborg’s 4-1 victory over Levanger in the NM Cupen.
