Jurgen Klinsmann is still mad about last June's 0-0 draw against Canada. He brought it up in Antigua ahead of the September World Cup qualifier, and his eyes grew wide when he mentioned that lackluster contest. You could tell it was still gnawing at him.

The defeat to Brazil a few days earlier? He seemed OK with that one. The U.S. national team fought hard against a talented Brazil squad and went down swinging, 4-1. But Canada? A U.S. lineup featuring Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, and Herculez Gomez couldn't even manage one goal against Canada? This is the same Canada, remember, that lost an October World Cup Qualifier against Honduras 8-1.

Yes, June 3, 2012 was a bad night for U.S. soccer—perhaps the team's worst showing under Klinsmann—but the coach and players can erase some bad memories when they host their northern neighbors in a pre-Hexagonal friendly at 7pm Eastern on January 29 in Houston.

"The match against Canada will come at the end of an important training camp as we get players ready for the World Cup qualifier against Honduras, and also get a good look at some up and coming players in the National Team pool,” Klinsmann said. "Obviously we have a great history with Canada, and they were unlucky not to qualify for the final round. The stadium in Houston is awesome and the fans have been incredibly supportive there, so for us it’s a great way to start off the centennial year of U.S. Soccer."

Houston is also conveniently located for the Hexagonal match to follow—the February 6 contest against Honduras in San Pedro Sula.

U.S. soccer will once again host a free public training session on January 28, and tickets for the match go on sale December 21.
