The U.S. Needs Michael Bradley More Than Anyone

We have some video evidence from U.S.-Guatemala of how vital the Roma midfielder is to the United States national team. Funny enough, it comes at a time you might not expect.

Michael Bradley is rapidly becoming the single-most important player on the United States national team.

The clip below shows exactly why.

In it, the midfielder has a nice exchange with Herculez Gomez before deftly chipping Guatemala's goalkeeper, which leads to Clint Dempsey slamming the ball home for the American's third goal. Ball. Game.

But the most telling moment is what happens afterward.

Bradley runs to Dempsey to celebrate, and the Tottenham forward apologizes for perhaps stealing his teammate's goal. The midfielder's response is something along the lines of "I don't give a f*&k." Bradley cares about the results of the play, not the individual accolades.

For a U.S. team that needs leaders, especially ones further up the field, the continual growth of Bradley is essential. The game in Guatemala was only the latest example.

Watch the entire exchange below. (And a big thanks to John Todd for pointing this out to us.):
