UNITED STATES interim national team head coach Dave Sarachan announced that three players have departed the U.S. team’s camp ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against Italy – which will be the team’s final game of 2018.

Weston McKennie, 20, returns to Schalke after being diagnosed with an injury to his left hamstring. His appearance in Thursday’s 3-0 loss to England was his seventh national team cap after making his debut in a 1-1 friendly draw against Portugal last November in 2017’s final game.

Luca de la Torre, 20, did not travel to Belgium and instead remained in London to stay with his club, Fulham. The San Diego native is a potential key member of the U-20 Olympic team after featuring in the 2015 U-17 World Cup and the 2017 U-20 World Cup for the United States.

Meanwhile, Kenny Saief was declared not fit to play against Italy. The Israeli-American has struggled with a wave of injuries since making his one-time switch with FIFA last summer to represent the United States after he played for Israel’s youth national teams.

As a result, Sarachan will have 23 players for Tuesday’s friendly against Italy (2:45pm ET, FS1).
