  • Coming off another lackluster performance and shorthanded, the U.S. women face off with China in the Women's World Cup quarterfinals. Somebody, anybody, needs to come forward and make an impact.

  • We found out Morgan Brian and Meghan Klingenberg live with Jeff Van Gundy's family during the NWSL season. Said Van Gundy: “The utter lack of sense of entitlement was actually startling for me. For professional athletes, I always think about it in these terms: the most difficult diva of women’s soccer would be the easiest NBA player ever.”

  • It's summer, which means all the lucrative MLS midseason friendlies are right around the corner. Leander Schaerlaeckens says its a big reason the league has perception problems. "In its 20th season, Major League Soccer still seems to identify and measure itself by the parameters set out by other leagues. But none of those leagues—whether in soccer or any other sorts—would deface the façade of their storefront with graffiti, just because a well-known artist happens to be available to do some spraying."

  • Clint Dempsey was suspended for six U.S. Open Cup matches or the next two years of the competition, whichever is greater. That ban could last through 2022 if his team his team goes one-and-done every year.
