The United States national team star is off doing his own thing again; DaMarcus Beasley has a few fans over in England; the American women continue to destroy the competition.

  • Jurgen Klinsmann, as is his wont, won't announce the rosters for the upcoming friendlies against Scotland and Austria until Monday afternoon. Too many secrets. Landon Donovan, however, won't be on the roster. He's going to Cambodia. We kid, we kid. It's actually Thailand. Omar Gonzalez will be a representative for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

  • Will Aron Johannsson be on the squad? He should be after scoring two for AZ Alkmaar on his 23rd birthday:

  • DaMarcus Beasley scores a nice write-up in the Sunday Times. Your opener: "If you recall DaMarcus Beasley as a lightweight, injury-prone winger from his spell at Rangers from 2007 to 2010, then brace yourself for his reinvention by USA coach Jürgen Klinsmann as a buccaneering left-back..."

  • Club Tijuana, home to like a whole bunch of American players, doesn't make the playoffs. The team's management responds by firing manager Jorge Almiron after just six months. He replaced Antonio "El Turco" Mohamed, who led Tijuana to massive success, so the change after Almiron's failure isn't entirely shocked but we are glad we don't get replaced so easily.

  • A goal from the NWSL included on the Puskas shortlist of goal of the year? You better believe it:
  • Speaking of women's soccer, the American ladies thrashed Brazila 4-1 to finish 2013 undefeated. Why aren't more people talking about their dominance?
