The United States men's national team defeats Panama to win the Gold Cup after a six-year drought. The victory capped an undefeated tournament for the Americans.

The saddest aspect of Sunday's final was, of course, Stuart Holden's first half knee injury. Doug McIntyre of ESPN captured the post-game reaction to yet another setback for the Bolton midfielder: "Because amid the otherwise happy scene, there was Stuart Holden in street clothes, limping around with a brace on his right knee." Aron Johannsson, the Icelandic-American forward now playing for AZ Alkmaar, chooses the U.S. going forward (ha!). While this announcement means nothing as far as locking him up, it's a start.
Sasha Kljestan's ear got annihilated by an opponent's elbow during the first half of Anderlecht's season opener. Ow.
