  • One of the best moments of the game came when Jürgen went poof. The range of emotions in that GIF is so great that the folks at SB Nation have one with a cursor, which you can move back and forth to watch everyone's reaction.

  • The saddest aspect of Sunday's final was, of course, Stuart Holden's first half knee injury. Doug McIntyre of ESPN captured the post-game reaction to yet another setback for the Bolton midfielder: "Because amid the otherwise happy scene, there was Stuart Holden in street clothes, limping around with a brace on his right knee."   • Aron Johannsson, the Icelandic-American forward now playing for AZ Alkmaar, chooses the U.S. going forward (ha!). While this announcement means nothing as far as locking him up, it's a start.

  • Sasha Kljestan's ear got annihilated by an opponent's elbow during the first half of Anderlecht's season opener. Ow.
