ASN Morning Read: Transfer Window Time
It's the first of July, and that means the summer transfer season in Europe has begun. Is anyone else giddy? Also, the Confederations Cup ended in lopsided fashion with the Selecao victorious. Highlights here.

With the main European summer transfer window opening today, ESPN FC's blog devoted to transfers should be a good way to keep track of all the developments involving Americans on the move. Time to start start Jozy Watch?
Some signings and movement have already occurred that directly and indirectly involved Yanks Abroad. We're talking Eric Lichaj, Jonathan Spector, Danny Williams, and others.
Chivas USA just can't catch a break, although that seems to be by design. The team, which sits in last place in the Western Conference, just let four players go. At this rate, they might not have enough people to field a full squad by the end of the season. I kid, I kid. But seriously, who wants to play?
Host Brazil dominated Spain in the Confederations Cup final, shutting out the defending World and European champions 3-0.

Protests, however, continued to be a subplot of the tournament right until the very end. The country's president didn't attend the final in an effort to avoid angering citizens further who protested close to the Maracanã. How close? "Several times during the game, fans cheered Brazil’s 3-0 rout of Spain even as the odor of tear gas wafted into the stadium."
