ASN Morning Read: Stretch Out for Boxing Day

Stretch out on the couch, that is. There's a feast of soccer, including one game going on right now(!), scheduled for today and the American contingent will play a prominent role. Plus, Herc Gomez has a sweet life.

  • Is there a better tradition for American soccer fans than the Boxing Day matches in England? At 10 a.m. ET, Tim Howard and Geoff Cameron take the field against Sunderland and Newcastle, respectively, with a Man City-Liverpool match at 12:30 as dessert. Brad Guzan and his Aston Villa boys will also see the field.

  • Speaking of the EPL, Clint Dempsey is returning to Fulham. Soccer Over There looks at the massive success he's found in the past. DId you know he's 17th among active players in terms of goals scored, tied with one Mr. Luis Suarez? Not too shabby.

  • MLSSoccer.com brings us a pretty excellent two-part series featuring a day in the life of Herculez Gomez. Check it:

  • The Los Angeles Galaxy feature heavily in Zac Rigg's list of the year's 11 worst transfers. Harsh man, harsh. But fair.
