  • Landon Donovan will play one final game for the United States national team on October 10. That's fun.

  • For a moment there was massive controversy because Jurgen Klinsmann was not quoted in the press release announcing the game. Then, however, it came to light that he made a statement and sent out a tweet, rendering the pointless controversy moot. :
  • Then, there was a lot of this:
  • A little less exciting but Bobby Wood will join the U.S. against the Czech Republic in September.

  • The Eddie Johnson redemption tour starts tonight against the LA Galaxy. Or does it: "Uncomfortable fact: United’s most effective frontline combination does not include Johnson, a truth learned when Fabian Espindola and Luis Silva joined forces during EJ’s three absences this summer. So will Ben Olsen start Johnson against the Los Angeles Galaxy at StubHub Center? He might. Not because he feels obligated to use his highest-paid player or is afraid of how Johnson would react to a reserve role. United’s congested schedule and travel demands will continue influencing lineup decisions and playing time. And with Johnson fresh after missing Saturday’s visit to Kansas City, Olsen may decide to save the Espindola-Silva partnership for this Sunday’s showdown with New York at RFK Stadium."

  • Here you will find the story of Nick Pugliese, the first American to play in the Afghanistan professional division.
