  • Your first pick of the 2015 Major League Soccer draft: Cyle Larin. After that, stuff got weeeeeird: "The surprises started with the second pick in Thursday's Major League Soccer Super Draft and continued for most of the first round. A player once considered a lock by virtually everyone in MLS to go in the top three tumbled to the reigning Supporters’ Shield holders in the 16th slot, the national player of the year bluffed his way into the 18th pick in the draft, and several unheralded players went much higher than expected."

  • MLS names the MLS MVP trophy after Landon Donovan, who is still alive: “After my initial disbelief, the phone call from Don and after talking to my family, that’s where my mind went. I’m a big hockey fan, and you think about the Hart Trophy, the Conn Smythe. Obviously the Heisman and Bill Russell, all those sorts of things. It’s really cool. I think that in the long term, it’ll probably be more relevant and more special as this league explodes and continues to do well. For me, I’m just proud. I’m very proud of having an award like that named after me.”

  • The Guardian brings the knives out for a column about Jozy Altidore's career in Europe: "Altidore will surely go down in Sunderland legend as one of the club’s worst ever signings. His time in the Premier League, on a reported £30,000 ($45,000) a week salary, has been so fruitless that he is likely to feature in ‘waste of money’ lists for years to come. But he could also count as one of the most badly-advised players of recent years, a victim of football’s propensity for ill-thought out deals. This is, after all, the second time in his young career that he has been a big-money failure."

  • Awwwwwwwww:
  • This is all sort of awesomely ridiculous: "If you plan on taking the Lincoln Tunnel from New Jersey to New York City Friday morning, you might be surprised to see a digital billboard supporting former Red Bulls head coach Mike Petke. #RedBullOut, the organization that is upset with the firing of Petke last week, will have its first public display against Red Bulls ownership and in support of Petke. The billboard will be in place at the beginning of the ramp that leads into the Lincoln Tunnel helix. The board will face eastbound traffic and will be rotating with other related advertisements, being shown eight seconds at a time during the day."
