  • FC Dallas defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps in the first Major League Soccer playoff game. (Read Brian Sciaretta's take, please.) FC Dallas supporters aside, everybody was up in arms about a late-match penalty that probably should not have been called—but the ball did hit a hand in the box so...? Dallas moves on to play the Seattle Sounders on Sunday. The New York Red Bulls and Sports Kansas City battle tonight. Highlights from Thursday evening in Frisco:

  • FIFA will do everything it can to make the Women's World Cup like super nice, yo except install real grass. The organization would also like to take sole credit for improving the quality of women's soccer all over the world. "More and more [women’s] players are becoming recognized as professional athletes and, nowadays, can make their living out of football.
