  • With the New York Red Bulls trailing Sporting Kansas City 1-0, Bradley Wright-Phillips scored in the 77th and 90th minutes to give the Red Bulls a dramatic 2-1 win over the defending champions and a spot in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The winner came on completely free header off one of the worst crosses you’ll ever see. New York faces D.C. United on Sunday. Highlights from Harrison:

  • Los Angeles Football Club is now officially a thing that will begin operations in 2017, with a huge ownership group that was introduced Thursday. The group is led Henry Nguyen, Peter Guber, and Tom Penn, featuring minority partners including Magic Johnson, Mia Hamm and Tony Robbins. If Robbins isn’t giving pre-game pep talks every week, we’ll be mighty disappointed.

  • The draw was held for January's CONCACAF U-20 Championship and the U.S. is up against Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Aruba, Panama and Guatemala in the group stage. Under the new format, the winners of the two groups qualify directly for the U-20 World Cup and play each other in the championship game. The second- and third-placed teams from each group are reseeded and face off in the playoff stage, with the two winners qualifying for the World Cup.

  • Charlie Davies took the ASN Questionnaire.

  • The European Club Association is proposing that the 2022 World Cup be held from April 28-May 29, which would require all sorts of changes to the domestic and continental cup tournaments.
