Landon Donovan will resign with the LA Galaxy. Grant Wahl hears it's going to be a multi-year deal and should be announced on Wednesday. The move almost certainly means that Donovan will retire as MLS's all-time leading goalscorer, seeing as he sits just 313 behind Jeff Cunningham. He'll also go down as the most important player in league history, but that's another matter entirely.
Jozy Altidore scored his first goal for Sunderland, getting his club on the board after MK Dons went up 2-0. Sunderland would eventually win 4-2 in the Capitol One Cup.
Jason Davis takes a smart look at Hammarby, which has been a place that helped many Americans grow but has since fallen on hard times: "MLS' improvement will have a direct effect on Hammarby's part in the education of American players. So far, the blue-collar club from the southern reaches of Stockholm with its direct ties to American soccer has given one young American a launching pad and given one young manager his first taste of coaching abroad."
American fans are banding together to help a woman who recently lost her husband get to Columbus for the United States-Mexico game. The indiegogo campaign already blew through its goal but donate anyway if you're so inclined.

Benji Joya took the ASN questionnaire. I really liked his answer about what he dislikes most in a player: "A stiff player. A player who’s not that flexible. Like agility-wise, players who struggle to move quickly. And it takes them more time to be defending or to be attacking."
