  • Miami-Dade County’s mayor offered a counter-proposal to David Beckham’s group, which involves filling in a massive boat slip next to AmericanAirlines Arena to create enough land for a stadium. Miami has sunk (no pun intended) more than $10 million into renovations of/around the slip in the past decade, so expect some blowback from the public on this latest idea.

  • The U.S. women will play friendlies against France on June 14 in Tampa and June 19 in Hartford. The Americans are 13-0-1 all-time against France and the last two meetings were in the 2011 World Cup semifinals (a 3-1 win) and in group play at the 2012 Olympics (a 4-2 win).
