ASN Morning Read: Major League Soccer to Detroit?
April 27, 2016
- MLS to Detroit?
- Mas: "Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores and Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert announced on Tuesday that they are partnering to form an investor group to bring an MLS expansion club to downtown Detroit. The efforts of Gores and Gilbert – whose teams just faced off in the first round of the NBA playoffs – are supported by MLS and Commissioner Don Garber, who recently announced that the league plans to grow to 28 teams and named Detroit as a city of interest. The league confirmed that Garber will be in Detroit on Wednesday to meet with the prospective MLS owners regarding their expansion plan."

Hey @TomGores, you know what's great about sports? One moment you're rivals & the next day, you can be rooting for the same team…— Dan Gilbert (@cavsdan) April 26, 2016
- Intelligence! Nuance! No, it's not the latest ASN article. It's Julie Foudy writing about PayGate: "It would be easy to paint U.S. Soccer as the villain here, but it would be false. U.S. Soccer has a chance to continue to show the world just what building a market can mean, to continue to show the world what is possible when you give women support, to truly be the model that all women's sports governing bodies emulate."

After defeating Georgia yesterday, the U.S. U-19s beat Ukraine 2-1 today in Slovakia. Goals came from Weston McKennie and Brandon Vazquez.— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) April 26, 2016
