  • Landon Donovan will come back in late March. “After a series of collaborative discussions between Landon, his representative and our key club leaders, we have agreed to allow Landon to remain on an extended leave of absence and return to training with the team during the final week of March,” Bruce Arena said in a club statement. He will presumably miss the next two United States national team qualifiers.

  • The United States U-20 squad opens up play at the CONCACAF Championship Monday night against Haiti. “I believe we’re as ready as we can be. We’ve had eight camps already [this past year] and in this particular group we have guys who have all been here [in Mexico] before," head coach Tab Ramos, who has high hopes for the group, said. "We have players who are prepared and we’ve had a couple of great weeks of training. We are training in great facilities, playing in an excellent stadium, the temperature should be OK, so there are really no excuses for us but to do the best we can and try to get to this first game.” The top four teams advance to the U-20 World Cup this summer in Turkey.

  • Marc Pelosi, who was not released by Liverpool for the U-20 tournament, breaks his leg in a game. He'll be back, though.

  • It's a new day for Robbie Rogers. Congrats to him.

  • The Portland Timbers had more than 14,000 fans show up for a preseason friendly. That's just absurd. Hopefully, the Timbers finally field a team worthy of the support.
