The Los Angeles Galaxy attacker misses another penalty kick but there's a more important story for the United States national team; the Robbie Rogers club saga continues; tragedy in Utah; Zlatan!

  • AHHHHHHH. Landon Donovan missed another penalty kick. Bruce Arena is all "time to make some changes" about the whole thing. But for our purposes, maybe let's talk about the fact that Donovan helped draw the penalty with a brilliant pass rather than another miss, you know? If you're Jurgen Klinsmann, you have a bunch of other dudes who can kick the ball into the net from 12 yards. What you don't have is someone to make the pass. Now, perhaps, you do.

  • Robbie Rogers does not want to go to Chicago. Which is fine. But, as Steve Davis and many others point out, MLS needs to tread carefully on how this deal gets done, should one happen, especially because the Los Angeles Galaxy are likely to come out as winners.

  • From the sad and tragic department, Ricardo Portillo, the 46-year-old referee who went into a coma after being punched by a teenage player, died on Saturday. From SI.com: "Portillo's family said he had been attacked before, and Johanna Portillo said she and her sisters begged their father to stop refereeing because of the risk from angry players, but he continued because he loved soccer. 'It was his passion,' she said. 'We could not tell him no.'"

  • Finally, here's a picture of Zlatan Ibrahimovic kicking an advertising board after scoring a late equalizer. Happy Monday. (h/t Josh Robinson)
