  • Jurgen Klinsmann wrapped up 2014 and previewed the upcoming year in a Q&A with USsoccer.com. And of course he had to slip in a little shot at MLS: “Certainly there are challenges with the FIFA fixture dates. The calendar is not in sync with MLS, so hopefully we're getting closer with MLS to solve that situation so that we can always call the strongest team possible for senior National Team games, which is very important to us because we want to do well and we want to get the results. We can't always compromise our players on this side or the other side, so having that calendar together would help us tremendously.”

  • For staying all over attackers, Eric Lichaj is known as “The Rash” in the Nottingham Forest locker room. We think that’s the most unflatteringly awesome nickname in sports.

  • After appearing in just one league match for Birmingham City so far this season, Will Packwood is heading on loan to third-tier Colchester United. The 21-year-old was loaned out last season as well.

  • Jeff Carlisle hands out final 2014 report cards.

  • Tesho Akindele was named MLS Rookie of the Year after scoring seven goals in 2014. On his international future: “It’s like having two parents: I feel allegiances to both. I’m just trying to talk to as many important people in my life and players on the team. Go slowly and make the right decision. Once you go one way, there is no turning back.”

  • A little more than 18 months out, who would be in your starting XI for the U.S. come the 2016 Copa America?
