  • Jozy Altidore scored what proved to be the winning goal in AZ’s 2-1 win over PSV in the Dutch Cup final, the club’s first Cup title since 1982. “I'm just so happy to win something,” Altidore said after the match The goal was Altidore’s 31st in all competitions this season and though he may not be around come August, the win earned AZ a spot in the Europa League playoff round.

  • The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the U.S. will play a Gold Cup warmup match against Guatemala at Qualcomm Stadium on July 5. It would be the first time the U.S. has played at the venue since 1999, a 2-1 loss to Mexico. The team gets its Gold Cuppage underway vs. Belize on July 9 in Portland.

  • Landon Donovan, veteran of two loan spells with Everton, supports David Moyes’ appointment as Manchester United’s next manager. "He is—across the board, by players, fans, staff, referees—very respected," Donovan said. "I think he'll do a fantastic job. I'm very happy for him." Asked if he’d consider joining United, Donovan joked: "I'm pretty sure that they prefer players that can make penalty kicks." Well-played, Landon.
