  • The United States national team lost 2-1 in a friendly against Sao Paulo FC yesterday. Chris Wondolowski scored the goal for the Americans because of course he did while Luis Fabiano tallied two for Brazil. There were apparently 30 armed guards posted to keep fans out. The teams will play again on the 20th.

  • This is the best. When asked who is the vainest person on Stoke City, goalkeeper Asmir Begovic answered..."Geoff Cameron. 100 percent. He looks after himself very, very well. He shaves his legs and makes sure his eyebrows and hair are done to the max."

  • Speaking of Stoke, boss Mark Hughes on the Juan Agudelo saga: "We have tied him to the club. We are not in a position to play him because - unbelievably - the work permit was refused. So we have to look at different options. We are trying to get him some football with a loan deal outside of these waters, and then we'll try to re-apply. We don't want this opportunity to go away because we feel he is an outstanding young talent—one of the best young talents to come out of America. If we come to a brick wall after investigating every possibility, maybe we will have to hold our hands up and say it is not to be. But at the moment we are not in that position."

  • For the Julian Green completists, the young attacker gets a mention in this story about Bayern Munich's preseason trip to Qatar. All the news that's fit to post.

  • And, late-breaking news, here's a longer one about the young star. “There’s no deadline though,” the teenager said about choosing between Germany and the U.S. “And in any case, my priority is to move forward at Bayern. Everything else will fall into place, I’m sure.”

  • Here's your 2014 National Soccer Hall of Fame ballot.
