  • USSF president and new FIFA Executive Committee member Sunil Gulati talked about fighting for CONCACAF to get a fourth automatic berth in future World Cups. “It's certainly not independent of the performance of the CONCACAF teams next summer in Brazil,” Gulati says. The article notes that the Central American nations voted together for Mexico, and Gulati says there was "definitely a language alliance." The winning vote came from Anguilla. There's drama, there's high drama, and then there's a British overseas territory with a population of 13,500 casting the deciding vote in one of the most important elections in the region, soccerwise. FIFA FTW!

  • In the wake of Luis Suarez going Hannibal again, Alexi Lalas weighed in on the worst things you can do on the soccer field. Biting is still behind spitting in his book: "I'd rather you bite me or kick me in the groin," Lalas said on Monday. "Just don't spit at me. Spitting represents the most vile, condescending act that a player on the field can commit.” Noted.

  • Brad Guzan and Aston Villa couldn’t stop Manchester United from clinching their 20th English title. Villa sits three points clear of the relegation zone with four to play, but Wigan has a game in hand. Robin van Persie scored a hat trick in the first half including this wondrous strike Sacha Kljestan knows that wasn’t Guzan’s fault

  • Tab Ramos called his latest U-20 roster, and one surprise is Jordan Morris, the Seattle Sounders academy product who cannot stop scoring. He's the lone amateur in the group. "[Seattle Sounders head coach] Sigi Schmid thinks very highly of him, and we value his opinion and look at Jordan’s track record. When he’s scoring one or two goals in every Academy game, that is something you seriously have to look at," Ramos said. Yes, yes you do.

  • Someone claiming to be the the Syrian Electronic Army hacked Sepp Blatter’s Twitter account as well as the official World Cup account. We weren’t originally sure if someone had injected Blatter with truth serum because everything the hackers said sounded about right.
