  • Brad Evans and Eddie Johnson got the goals with Clint Dempsey tallying an assist as the Seattle Sounders defeated the Colorado Rapids 2-0 in the Western Conference knockout round. The Sounders move on to play a home-and-home with the Portland Timbers, which will be awesome. Just watch the highlights:
  • Expect a strong squad to play against Scotland and Austria in November. “Our approach to the games against Scotland and Austria is that they are World Cup preparation matches,” head coach Jurgen Klinsmann said. “That means we have to look at bringing the best available players. We will be following the situations in Europe and MLS carefully. We plan on taking the strongest squad possible for these games."

  • Julian Green, however, will not attend camp with the United States men's national team in November. He wouldn't be able to play without filing a one-time switch, something he's not ready to do. "In no way has he closed the door on the American team," a source tells Brian Sciaretta.

  • Michael Bradley is excited about Roma's fast start and believes his team can compete for the Scudetto in Serie A. "The next game is always the most difficult," he said, which is just about the most Michael Bradley thing to say. “Who are the favorites for the Scudetto? Looking at the results I’d say Juventus and Napoli. There are also Inter and Fiorentina, while let’s not forget Milan. After nine rounds it’s all open, so let’s just wait before giving a favorite. Roma? After this streak of results we are in the running for the Scudetto, but we’ll have to see where we are at the end of the season.”

  • Happy Halloween from the U-17 women's team. The kids these days.
