  • Jozy Altidore's coach Paolo Di Canio is out because Sunderland is terrible and the players didn't like him. This is really a tremendous video of Di Canio's last moments.

  • Meanwhile, Altidore writes about the goal he scored against Arsenal that was called back due to a phantom foul: "It was a situation where Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna and I were battling for the ball, I was able to fight him off, gain possession and finish the scoring opportunity. Unfortunately, the official didn't allow play to continue. Of course, not getting my first Premier League goal of the season and helping my team pull even with Arsenal at the time was disappointing. But sometimes those things happen. It's part of the game. I've been in similar situations where I and/or my team have been the benefactor."

  • Jurgen Klinsmann, man, Jurgen Klinsmann: "We asked the players to step it up, and we threw them in the cold water – and they were swimming in the cold water here and there," the United States men's national team manager said at halftime of the Seattle Sounders-Los Angeles Galaxy match.

  • John Anthony Brooks, John Brooks to you and me, seems to have dislocated his elbow. Ouch. No word on how much time he'll miss, but it will be some for sure.

  • Sporting Kansas City's equipment manager Mike Flaherty brought school supplies to a school in Honduras: Then they brought up the soccer team (who were about to leave for a game) on to the stage and we handed them a soccer ball yet again for the cameras. The only “real” part was when one of the players in excellent English explained to me why he thought I should give him a trial with Sporting KC. He worked the rest of the staff learning names and chatting everyone up as they left for the game. No doubt he will run that country or maybe another country someday!
