Fifa Rankings

We're No. 19! We're No. 19! And Mexico Is Behind Us.

Riding an 11-game winning streak and basking in its 2013 Gold Cup championship, the United State's men's soccer team returned to the Top 20 in FIFA's World Ranking after a two-and-a-half-year absence.

BEFORE YOU GET TOO EXCITED, remember: It's the FIFA World Rankings. It's an imperfect list produced by a profoundly flawed organization. (Hey, Sepp. 'Sup?)

Still, the No. 19 ranking validates the United States' recent run of form, which includes a victory over No. 2-ranked Germany, an 11-game winning streak, and a dominant performance in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Now one spot ahead of No. 20 Mexico, the U.S. is the top-ranked team in the region. Panama, the runner up in the Gold Cup, rose 11 spaces to No. 40.

Want some instant perspective? The Americans are now ranked ahead of El Tri, Ghana (24) and Sweden (30) but behind the Ivory Coast (18), Ecuador (17) and next week's opponent, Bosnia-Herzegovina (13).

The Top 10, listed below, did not change from last month.

1. Spain
2. Germany
3. Colombia
4. Argentina
5. Netherlands
6. Italy
7. Portugal
8. Croatia
9. Brazil
10. Belgium

Here is the complete FIFA rankings.
