  • Clint Dempsey, who is still not wanted by Liverpool, went to the Knicks-Pistons game in London... and hung out with David Luiz. Because, why not?

  • The saga of Jurgen Klinsmann trying to get Landon Donovan to go out with him continues, to no avail. “We texted back and forth since the MLS Cup final,” Klinsmann says. “I've offered lunches, dinners, coffee. But he wanted to take his break, and I said that's fine.” Maybe he’s just not that into you, coach. Donovan will meet with club manager Bruce Arena this weekend, which will hopefully give us all a better idea about something, or at least another useless quote to write about.

  • ASN's Noah Davis looks for solutions to the USMNT’s “centerback conundrum” and talks with Tim Howard and Alexi Lalas about the importance of communication in the back. Says Howard: “It can be as obvious as 'the sun is shining,' but it needs to be a constant flow of communication that keeps everybody on their toes."

  • Clarence Goodson’s is mulling a move to Orduspor in Turkey. The 30-year-old is currently at the club checking the place out, and his current club Brondby says (in awesomely-broken Google Translate language): “Both we and Clarence is in dialogue with Orduspor on a switch, but there is not an agreement in place.”

  • Brad Davis doesn’t want to waste what may be his last chance with the U.S. Klinsmann says Davis and other veterans in camp “know time isn’t on their side” and their presence in camp “inspires the younger ones.”

  • Since this is “Morning Read,” you definitely need to know what some of the January camp lads eat for breakfast. Juan Agudelo fancies himself an omelet, but admits he’s no good at making them. Says Josh Gatt: “I don't really like eating in the morning, but I know it's important.” Darn right it is.
