Instead, the departures of Will Johnson, Fabian Espindola, and Jamison Olave has given young talent the opportunity to flourish in Salt Lake. Players like Luis Gil continue to shine, and the Claret and Cobalt continue to pile on the results. The team is currently tied atop the Supporters’ Shield Race with 30 points. It will seek three more against a woeful Toronto FC side on Saturday.

Philadelphia Union vs. FC Dallas

Jack McInerney will finally have the opportunity to showcase his talents on the international level, but the Union need one more solid performance before he departs in July. The No. 33-ranked player in the ASN 100 was unable to bury any of his chances against the New York Red Bulls in Week 17. Fortunately for Philadelphia, two goals from Conor Casey were enough to secure the victory. That might not be the case against FC Dallas on Saturday. If the Union hope to continue streaking, Jack Mac must return to form at PPL Park.

San Jose Earthquakes vs. Los Angeles Galaxy

Get ready for another clasico, California. Fortunately, this one won’t have the audience and atmosphere of an Under-20 World Cup match. Stanford Stadium will host the Week 18 showdown between Los Angeles and San Jose. If last year’s 4-3 result is any indication, the fireworks will come from the pitch. Prepare for another wild and dramatic finish Saturday night.

New York Red Bulls vs. Houston Dynamo

New York and Houston enter Week 18 in the doldrums. The Red Bulls have lost three consecutive matches across all competitions. The Dynamo have not fared any better during their current six-game winless streak. No one’s pushed the panic button yet, but they might come Sunday. A loss for either team will raise serious questions about their MLS Cup prospects.

FC Kansas City vs. Portland Thorns

It was a wild affair the last time these two met. Goals from Alex Morgan, Courtney Wetzel, and Danielle Foxhoven secured a 4-3 victory for the Thorns at JELD-WEN Field. FC Kansas City will look to return the favor at Yurcak Field Stadium on Sunday.
