KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Thursday afternoon's training session will be a little more crowded here with U.S. Soccer announcing three roster moves ahead of Friday's qualifier against Jamaica. Center back Clarence Goodson and midfielder Brad Davis will join the team and Chris Wondolowski will replace an injured Eddie Johnson at forward.

Johnson came off the field during an open practice session Wednesday after going down with a left groin injury. DaMarcus Beasley got the attention of a member of the team medical staff who checked on Johnson and walked with the player into the Sporting Park tunnel. Johnson will have a MRI on Thursday according to a news release from U.S. Soccer.

Goodson and Davis were likely preplanned additions to allow them to participate in Wednesday night's MLS action that saw all three added players go 90 minutes. Davis had a solid performance with the Houston Dynamo in a 0-0 draw with Sporting Kansas City. Wondolowski scored the winner in San Jose's 1-0 win against Colorado, in which Goodson played center back for the Quakes.

While U.S. manager Jurgen Klinsmann said he didn't have any more pushback from MLS managers, many of whose teams are jockeying for playoff position, he did say he worked with several managers to work out a situation that might be more palatable than losing their best players for two weeks.

"I mean, I'm always in touch with the coaches and I see obviously their schedule," he said at a news conference Thursday. "Here and there I try as much as I can to help, which was the case there for Clarence and for Brad Davis last night playing there. But in general we try to do what is best for us in order to improve our program, improve things we want to improve. It's always a little bit of a juggle, but I think that is going well. So therefore there was no real pressure at all from anybody."

Goodson started and played all of the Red, White, and Blue's 2-0 win against Mexico after Matt Besler was suspended because of yellow card accumulation. He joins Besler and Michael Orozco as center backs in camp. Orozco was called in as a replacement Tuesday with Omar Gonzalez ruled out because of an injury. Geoff Cameron is also in camp, and Klinsmann reiterated his stance Thursday that he and the U.S. staff see the versatile Stoke City man as a center back.

Davis has featured sporadically in 2013. As a left-footer, he generally has been a substitute on the left side hitting free kicks and hoping to give the attack a boost.
