  • Last week, Brian Sciaretta checked in on Molde’s Josh Gatt as he continues to recover from the ACL tear he picked up at the end of June. Summing up the article, Gatt has been cleared by his surgeon to add limited dynamic movement to his training, which will gradually intensify as he aims to make preseason training in late January.

  • Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman told the Bolton News that while it’s great news to have Stuart Holden back with the club, he will not put a timescale on midfielder’s return from his knee injury. Freedman told the paper this: “I don’t want to put pressure on anyone so I will say to Stuart, ‘take as long as you possibly can.’"

  • Anderlecht midfielder Sacha Kjlestan picked up a calf injury and had to sit out for the team’s 1-1 draw against league leaders Standard Liege, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

  • John Brooks caught the flu last week and missed out on Hertha Berlin’s 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The Bundesliga is now in its winter break, so Brooks will have plenty of time to recover before Hertha’s next match against Eintracht Frankfurt on January 25.

  • On Saturday, Hannover captain Steve Cherundolo started his first league game since returning from his three knee surgeries. The 34-year-old defender played for 81 minutes in his team’s 2-1 loss to SC Freiburg, managing 36 passes and 12 tackles. After the winter break, Hannover travel to Wolfsburg.

  • Club Tijuana pair Edgar Castillo and Paul Arriola both featured in Tijuana’s two preseason friendlies against Dorados de Sinaloa over the weekend. Both players picked up injuries toward the end of the Liga MX season and should be available for the 2013 L.A. Clasico on December 28, in which Xolos will face Club America.
