  • On track to become a Stoke City player in January, Juan Agudelo still officially needs a work permit. Stoke will make its case at a hearing likely to take place early next month. After the MLS playoffs end, Agudelo will head to England and start the process of getting acclimated. "Hopefully he will benefit from a mini break from playing after completing a full season in America,” agent Gary Mellor said. “We saw how tough it was for Geoff Cameron to play two seasons, in America and then here, without a break.”

  • Julian Green accepted a call-up to the Germany U-19 team for upcoming friendlies vs. France during the international break. A Green rep told MLSsoccer.com: "These matches are a great opportunity for him as a young player to gain further international experience without being determinate too early." Fair enough.

  • Scotland announced its team for the friendly against the U.S. next Friday. Familiar names include Premier League regulars Charlie Adam, Steven Naismith, and Steven Fletcher.

  • MLS will have a presence at next month’s FIFA Club World Cup in the form of a refereeing crew led by Mark Geiger. Geiger and the two assistants also worked the 2011 U-20 World Cup and the 2012 Olympics. They were one of five crews selected for the tournament in Morocco, which will be the first to feature goal-line technology.

  • Seb Hines scored for Middlesbrough in a U-21 match against Liverpool.

  • Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht take on PSG in the Champions League today, another chance for Kljestan to continue his terrific goal-scoring form. He’s heating up on Doug McIntyre’s USMNT hot list. Cooling down? Jozy Altidore after Sunderland’s red-card laden performance over the weekend.
