After a disappointing loss to Colombia in the opener, the Americans bounced back with a 4-0 win against Costa Rica, moving up to second in the group and setting up a decisive match Saturday against Paraguay.

  • In a must-win game, the United States routed Costa Rica 4-0, scoring three times in the first half. Goals came from Clint Dempsey, Jermaine Jones, Bobby Wood and Graham Zusi.

    Colombia beat Paraguay in the other Group A game, clinching passage into the knockout round. The U.S. is now second in the group with a +2 goal difference, ahead of Paraguay and Bolivia, who each have one point.
