  • Terrence Boyd spoke to DW, touching on a wide array of things. Boyd thinks the United States' grueling qualifying campaign will serve the team well this summer. "It's a different kind of soccer, it's hard. I've seen some things I didn't know could happen. Sometimes, we're playing with referees that don't even speak English," Boyd said. "But you learn to just keep going and put your anger in your game." He's also impressed with the growth of MLS and says he'd "definitely" consider making the move.

  • The U-21 team has plenty of Latin influence, something that excites Benji Joya. "It's really nice how [Jurgen] Klinsmann and Tab Ramos are bringing a lot of Hispanic roots into the U.S. team," the Chicago Fire man said. “We're Mexicans, but it really doesn't matter. We were born in the US, and we just want to play soccer. We're trying to bring to the U.S. a little Mexican taste.”

  • Sigi Schmid isn't very happy that MLS teams are scheduled to join the U.S. Open Cup during the league's break for the World Cup. “We might as well play an MLS game,” Schmid said. “I thought the break was good because it would … give our players a little bit of time off, but also to give our staff some time off. … It also gives people the opportunity to go to the World Cup if they wanted to for four or five days or six days, whether you’re a trainer or a team administrator or something like that. Instead, the New York office will be there and the U.S. Soccer office will be there, and the rest of us will toil away here and watch it on TV.”

  • In this week's podcast, John Godfrey, Noah Davis and Jon Arnold ponder whether Mix Diskerud should come to MLS.
