We're not ones to stir the pot unnecessarily around these parts but, um, wow: "I think the most disappointing is we didn't seem like we gave it a real effort, from a tactical standpoint," Landon Donovan told MLSSoccer.com. "I thought the guys did everything they could, they did everything that was asked of them, but I don't think we were set up to succeed yesterday, and that was tough to watch."
  • A quote: "Until the player development system in the United States receives a major overhaul, the nation of seemingly endless resources and population will continue to fall short of its immense potential at the World Cup. That system, not a lack of talent or one coach at the senior national team level, is what holds the USA back from winning." That paragraph is published in the Telegraph, which is an English newspaper.

  • Jurgen Klinsmann says: "The interesting part is every time we go down a goal we shift it up and give opponents the real game. There's still the sense of too much respect, that's why I try to play many friendly games against European teams. Yes, you respect your opponent, but leave that respect off the field."

  • It's never too late to rank the Americans in the World Cup. John Godfrey does it for ASN, while Jeff Carlisle goes all in for ESPN.com. Tim Howard is your winner.

  • But don't worry, the World Cup in Russia is only four years away. A perfect time to start projecting your line up. Or, you know, giving them bottles of booze:
  • If you're just a bit more sane, let's do a Starting XI for Copa America 2016.
