  • Poor @cristiano. The dude might have a stomach worthy of Superman but he also is battling knee tendinitis. This is either a big story or not a big story; it's hard to tell at this point. For now: "The FPF said he was working on building up his fitness out on the field at the New York Jets' training centre on Tuesday along with Raul Meireles and Beto, who are dealing with thigh and leg injuries respectively. Ronaldo was able to work with the ball and Mais Futebol reported that he 'appeared to be making progress.'" We're all making progress, Mais Futebol.

  • Cool story, bro:
  • Jurgen Klinsmann time. Here's a long bit about why the American coach deserves more credit for focusing on the future of American soccer, revolving around the argument that because Kilnsmann didn't have 23 players better than Landon Donovan, he was right not to take the Los Angeles Galaxy attacker. Or something.

  • Here is a better argument for leaving Landon Donovan off the roster.

  • And here's a clip of the coach saying that yes, his players can have sex during the World Cup, which is something we didn't really need to know but hey, good for them?

  • This profile of the American head coach is excellent, and features the following passage: "Klinsmann sometimes spoke through pseudo-philosophical koans that were easily mistaken for mystique. ('The killer can only kill things if he’s a giver to the whole group that gets him into that position,' he told me at one point. I wasn’t quite sure what he meant, but I believed him.)

  • Want to get depressed and outraged? Check out E:60's excellent investigation about Qatar's migrant population. They are building the 2022 World Cup stadiums and dying in massive numbers. Someone stop this.
