  • Jozy Altidore finally found the back of the net for Sunderland in an EPL match:
  • The 2014 World Cup is set to be the strongest field ever, according to ASN friend and occasional ping pong partner Martin Rogers. Let's go with a quote from Ronaldo, the real one, to illustrate: "Brazil will host a special tournament but you also have to look at the teams and how strong they are. European teams have done well recently at the World Cup, but you will have South American countries who will be difficult to beat on their own continent. The other confederations are improving now, too. We have never seen depth like this."

  • Bruce Arena believes that the U.S. needs a good draw and a fast start to succeed in Brazil. His roster locks:

Goalkeepers (2): Brad Guzan, Tim Howard.
Defenders (5): DaMarcus Beasley, Matt Besler, Geoff Cameron, Brad Evans, Omar Gonzalez.
Midfielders (5): Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, Jermaine Jones, Graham Zusi.
Forwards (3): Jozy Altidore, Aron Johannsson, Eddie Johnson.

  • Yep, still on this Brazil kick: "If you want to put fans in seats to watch the World Cup, you’re going to need actual seats to do it. Less than a month away from the Dec. 31 FIFA-imposed deadline for Brazil to deliver all 12 of its tournament venues, half are still unfinished, with three of those having no realistic shot of wrapping up before February." Details, details.

  • Mix is up, Juan Agudelo:
