ASN Morning Read: Hanging out at Toronto FC

The Michael Bradley move is finally, finally, finally official; Julian Green is seriously unstoppable, which probably isn't a good thing for the United States; Nick Rimando plays television critic.

  • Michael Bradley (and Jermain Defoe) were officially introduced in Toronto on Monday and said some things. He compared his move to Yaya Toure’s transfer from Barcelona to Manchester City in 2010, leaving arguably the best team of all time for a club that hadn’t won anything in ages in order to be a part of “shaping something.” It certainly didn’t hurt that Toure started to make more than $340,000 a week at City...

Bradley said might meet up with the national team at the end of the month, but that’s not for certain. Later, he and Defoe went to a Raptors game because, why not? And look at that smile!

  • Intrepid journalist Taylor Twellman reports Maurice Edu is in negotiations to return to MLS. The 27-year-old hasn’t played in a single first-team match for Stoke City this season and since all the cool kids are doing it now, a move back to the U.S. sounds about right.

  • Julian Green scored again for Bayern Munich in an 8-0 win over Kuwait SC and this one was lovely. That’s two in two games during the club’s winter break in the Middle East.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or and since FIFA loves transparency so much, we got to see how every country’s coach and captain voted. Clint Dempsey went with Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic while Klinsmann’s interesting ballot had Franck Ribery, Gareth Bale, and Radamel Falcao.

  • Hopefully Rimando and Evans got their Bachelor fix last night...
