- Wednesday’s loss is not why the Gold Cup campaign was a failure, says ASN’s Brian Sciaretta. Upsets happen. The team played well below its potential and you have to wonder whether Klinsmann has made any improvements since last year’s World Cup.

- Mark Geiger has support from the Professional Referee Organization. "One inconsistent performance does not make a referee a poor referee," said the organization’s general manager. "Geiger is a very good referee and has proved that on numerous occasions. PRO will fully support him and his standing with PRO has not been [affected] by this performance."
- In friendly news, the match against Brazil at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough is confirmed for Sept. 8.
