  • The January camp roster is out and ASN EIC JHG (John Godfrey) has five good thoughts. Your summary: "This is not "Camp Cupcake," as an ill-advised pundit once called it. This will be an intense, hard-fought battle for roster spots that will reward the bold and punish those who hesitate. It's great to see. And it should be a lot of fun to watch." Godfrey also ponders who will make the roster for Brazil. Poor Tally Hall.

  • Here's Jurgen Klinsmann talking about his goals for the camp:
  • Speaking of Brazil, FIFA President Sepp Blatter says he's never seen a country as far behind in its World Cup preparations as Brazil is today. I can't say I'm surprised.

  • Also speaking of Brazil, a player who is not likely to make the United States roster is Oguchi Onyewu. QPR will release the defender who will forever get to put "AC Milan man" on his resume. Will MLS come calling?

  • Defender Will Packwood will serve as a spy with his Birmingham City take on Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup. Something about a loan stint and Sherlock Holmes and it's all very confusing, honestly.

  • Here's Kicker's team preview of the United States. Be warned: It's in German.

  • Tom Sermanni named his USWNT camp team, but Alex Morgan won't be there because she has a stress fracture in her ankle.
