  • The Seattle Sounders attacker did it again over the weekend, netting two in his squad's destruction of the Colorado Rapids. We'll have plenty more on that game later, but for now check out this smart piece detailing the Sounders' attack. Intuitively this makes a lot of sense, since their three best players are Clint Dempsey, Obafemi Martins and Ozzie Alonso. That's a nice, strong spine. But Dempsey has played out wide as often as he's been central for club and country over the last decade, and Martins can say the same. Most coaches who've had him have looked at him and said "run the channels" in either a 4-3-3 or as the second forward in a 4-4-2. Sigi Schmid had decided to keep both players more central in his current scheme, and it's working—even when teams try to force play to the flanks."

  • Here you will find more U-20 highlights than you know what to do with. (We suggest watching them.) A teaser:
  • Would you like to read a long bit on Landon Donovan as a polarizing player? "I see no reason, with Landon’s talent, why he couldn’t have done exactly what he did with the Galaxy at a great club in Europe,” Kasey Keller tells ESPN. “But that was his choice, and that’s the part people forget sometimes. They take personal ownership in their sports heroes and they want to see them do particular things."

  • Someone give Dani Alves a medal.

  • When the United States gets a shot against Germany it won't go in because Manuel Neuer is the best.
