  • Terrence Boyd did an amazing, all-inclusive interview with Spox.com. He compares his style of play to a center in basketball (“Shaquille O'Neal, for example, has never dribbled”), but the best part is when asked about the backlash he’s received from fans of his former club: "Everyone has big balls on the Internet.”

  • Geoff Cameron chatted with New England Soccer Today and gave a long-winded explanation about what happened on Portugal's second goal. Cameron was covering Besler's side, Fabian Johnson was marking Portugal's outside mid, nobody was pressuring Ronaldo and ultimately Cameron thought Johnson would be staying with Varela. "So, people can say what they want to say, but there was 4-5 mistakes along the way there," Cameron said. "If people want to blame me, that’s OK. But, if you watch the game, I had played a very, very good game defensively. I mean Ronaldo, Eder, they all didn’t do much throughout the game so, I was fine with it."

  • Gedion Zelalem started for Arsenal at Red Bull Arena on Saturday and was pestered about his international future, revealing nothing. "They're both great countries. The U.S. is on the rise. Germany is already a great country. So whichever country I choose will be a good choice,” Zelalem said. The 17-year-old noted that he’s been in touch with Jurgen Klinsmann. "We've talked on the phone a few times, but nothing advanced," Zelalem said. "Just a little."

  • Sunderland manager Gus Poyet gave an update on Jozy Altidore's status as the club gets into its preseason of tour of Portugal. “I’ve been in touch with him and he is fine, fully fit – his hamstring is no problem," Poyet said. "It’s going to be a short pre-season for him and he’s going to have to run a little bit in Portugal, apart from playing football with us in the afternoons."

  • FIFA rejected calls to take the 2018 World Cup away from Russia, saying the tournament "can achieve positive change."
