- Two months ago, former United States international David Wagner became the head coach of Huddlersfield Town, playing in England's second division. The former Borussia Dortmund assistant is the first-ever American coach of a professional English team and Huddersfield's first-ever non-British coach. “He might end up coming full-circle and coming back to us as the manager of the U.S. national team someday," Eric Wynalda said of Wagner. "I don't feel like I am going out on a limb there."
- Grant Wahl reports that a number of veterans won't take part in January camp, meaning there's room for some fresh blood. It appears the roster will include 20-year-old goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez, who is eligible for the U.S. and Mexico, reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Luis Robles and Ethan Finlay.
- Jordan Morris is traveling to Germany to train with Werder Bremen, while elsewhere in Germany, Christian Pulisic will be with Dortmund's first team during its winter break camp in Dubai.
