Mexico downed Jamaica in Kingston on Tuesday night. Forward Aldo de Nigris missed about a million chances but nailed a single one and Jesus Corona stoned multiple Reggae Boyz attempts to give El Tri a 1-0 win. The victory puts Mexico on top of the Hexagonal for now and leaves the home side in dire straights. A loss against the United States on Friday will leave the team virtually eliminated from World Cup qualification contention. That's probably not the best news for the good old Stars and Stripes, whose coaching staff watched the affair live and in person.
Herculez Gomez (and his sweet mustache) leaves Santos for Club Tijuana. He'll join Joe Corona, Edgar Castillo, Greg Garza, and Alejandro Guido on the team. Why exactly couldn't Chivas USA put together that type of team again?...
...oh that's right: the MLS side is embroiled in a racism scandal.
Jack McInerney, who leads Major League Soccer with 10 goals on the season, made the 35-man preliminary roster for the Gold Cup but Jurgen Klinsmann has not picked up the phone and called the 20-year-old forward. “I have no idea what [Klinsmann] is thinking,” McInerney told MLSsoccer.com. “But I know if I keep scoring, whether I make it now or later, eventually it will come.” If you score it, he will call?
