- FIFA rejects the CONCACAF World Cup request for exclusivity but does agree to speed up the timeline. That means the CONCACAF World Cup is almost certainly going to happen. You almost wonder if politician Sunil Gulati floated the exclusive period knowing that FIFA wouldn't go for it but hoping they'd settle for speeding up the announcement of the host. Maybe that's giving him too much credit; Maybe it's not.
