It's a Huge Deal
Ho-Hum
Yanks Will Win It All U.S. Will Crash Out
LOVE my USMNT but 2015 was a rough year & I don't really see things being all that different by June 2016. — JHowe
How will Sunil explain himself when he chooses NOT to fire me, even after we have embarassed ourselves at this tournament too? — JKlinsmann
HUGE — Bert
— Partha
Underdogs are always underrated. Should be an exciting tournament to support the men in red, white and blue. — TC
BELIEVE IN FREEDOM — MERICA
Can't wait for this thing to get started. — sheldonR
Absolutely a huge tournament, arguably bigger than the Gold Cup. It's important for them to do well; however I can't see them making it to the semifinal. — Chris
It matters cause ill watch it — drew
This cup is very important not only for Klinsmann and the team, but also for the country. Unfortunately, USMNT will struggle and gain no more than 1-2 points in the group stage. — Greyson C
The tournament is a big deal. The current state of the US...not so much. I hope, but don't expect. — Mark
Big deal with many very talented teams. Playing at home will help the U.S., but the opponents are going to be very tough in a year of continued rebuilding of the senior team with the integration of younger guys and the aging out of some of the old guard. — AJ
Looking forward to seeing quality teams playing games that matter in the US. Especially looking forward to seeing the US and Argentina (Messi) in Chicago. As long as we play players in their correct positions, I like our chances getting out of the group. — Billy
do some work US — bill
This is a big deal! — Terrance
I don't expect much from JK's boys — Owen
JK's last chance. The US needs to (and should) advance from group play. After that, it all comes down to the draw. Anything less and JK should be canned. — Pwyll
It's hard to say exactly how big it will be until rosters are announced, but with Messi pledging to play it could be huge. With the US' recent form, you'd have to think just getting out of the TBD group would be a huge achievement. — Kevin1813
Klinsmann is tactically awful. Time to move on. — Thomas
It is a big deal if you go far. Feeling iffy about US chances. — jordi
it's important that the U.S. Has a strong performance to show that we are progressing instead of regressing like last year. — lopes
USMNT will win the group and go through. Might win 1 knockout game, but wont go further than that and it will be called a success. Actual tournament is good for marketing and positioning for a World Cup. Glad they are having it. — Leo
The tourney should be a big deal for US Soccer because it is a test against the best teams throughout the Americas. If the men's national team wants to evolve, it needs to face stronger resistance on a regular basis. I think the U.S. will play alright, but I'm not optimistic about advancing beyond the group stage. — Nick Katers
Believe. We beat Germany, didn't we? — DK
Good visibility — Jeff
Big deal. Not optimistic with yurgen at the helm — G
Our coach sucks, but we should advance out of the group. I'm excited and will be going to a couple of games. USA! — Fredo
Excellent opportunity for the USMNT to test themselves against some of the best team in the world. The tournament is especially valuable since the US didnt qualify for the Confederations Cup. — J
Doubting the impact of this tournament would do us nor US Soccer any good. This is the best chance we will have before the 2018 World Cup to play some of the best competition in the world when they will all be apart from their club teams. US Soccer and its fans need to realize how important this will be for the development of our younger guys in their preparation for 2018. That said, we are playing some A+ competition so don't expect much, reaching and losing in the quarterfinals would be a success in my eyes. — Anthony G
The Tournament is a huge deal. Anything less than knockout rounds is a failure. I expect a Quarterfinal appearance, or more. Since we are not headed to the Confed Cup, this is the biggest international tournament preparation JK and his boys will have prior to WC '18. We should be striving to have the best performance of any CONCACAF member. If Mexico or Costa Rica out perform us, then it's a failure. — Rick
Bout the same chances as Romania at the Euros... — Andrew
Big chance for the U.S. to announce itself against some of the best. I have a feeling the team will play above it's talent level as it did in WC 2014. This might also be a great way for older guys: Howard, Jones, and Dempsey to go out with a bang. — Alex
Prestigious, historical event. Not as important relative to the USMNT as the Gold Cup though. I don't expect them to get very far, but I do expect them to get maybe 1 or 2 surprise wins against better teams for some reason or another. If Klinsmann was smart enough to play something like Howard; Shea, Besler, Cameron, Yedlin; McCarty; Bradley, Feilhaber; Dempsey, Jóhannsson, Johnson, then we might have a chance at going to the semifinals. — Thunder
Much bigger than the Olympics, almost as exciting as hosting the World Cup. This will be a huge tournament. — JHG
It's exactly the benchmark that JK wants, but it's not as big as the Hex or the World Cup. We should have a decent shot at advancing, but I don't foresee us playing particularly well or making much noise. — KXRTI
It's going to be really embarrassing when the US doesn't even get a point in this tournament. #FireKlinsmann — BDM
Super important, since it's a chance to showcase the home team against some serious opponents. I just hope it whips fans into a frenzy no matter who they're cheering for. — Kron
Good luck — RR
Very big for american soccer and can promote the game in the states, but I don't expect the Americans to do much — Will Rowe
Depends to be seen how big a deal it is based on what players come. As of a couple months ago, my friends in South America did not even know there was another "off-year" Copa this year. Yanks through to knockout. — Jared
dont see us doing well — chris m
If we go with youth, we dont fair well but will set up for a great showing in WC 2018. Realistically, I see us existing in the Quarterfinals — @Sean_Sullivan_1
Being supportive is one thing, thinking we could win is delusional! Seeming to write off Paraguay and Costa Rica is the height of hubris, home field advantage or not. I would be thrilled to get out of the first round. — Jim
These other teams much stronger than American. — Jurgen K
First game of knockout round, as is tradition. — AYYYY
Very important tournament for the USMNT after last Summer's disappointment in the Gold Cup. It will give us a chance to bounce back, as well as test our mettle against much stronger national sides. Unfortunately, I don't see us making a splash against the competition, especially with the Olympics likely claiming much of our exciting younger talent. Out of group stages, but not much further... — Jurgen
Looking forward to it — Ben Harreld
- — Luke
Comment — Jay
U.S. will surprise and make it out of the group... before falling to Brazil. — Alex
They'll make the semi's if they don't face Brazil for the first knockout game. — 87SS383
couldn't even come close to getting it done at the Gold Cup... — jurgen sucks
it is BIG — TGA
It's kind of a big deal, but I'm not sure we have the talent yet for it. Might be best to go experience only and let the young guys rule, but that didn't happen. — Jon
The Copa can provide great exposure for an already rapidly growing sport. It'll provide an opportunity to see some global superstars (I'm looking at you Messi). The USA has ZERO chance of winning, but if they show well in the tournament, I'd consider it a success. — Kevin
Gut feeling — Krystal
here — pussycontrol
We're gonna get destroyed, everyone will be talking about how the hosts shit the bed — Ricardo
Big Event. More so from a marketing and awareness perspective. U.S. doesn't have a chance to win however. — Kevin
It's Klinsmann so... — Brendan
Will be memorable — Jeff
This tournament is important for getting some press coverage and exposure. USMNT will have a prett good performance for a few reasons: 1. Here at home the crowds will be less hostile than some other venues. 2. Other teams don't value this tournament very highly and won't bring their best squad. — Crowman
Conservative about this. — BrotherYoungBuck
semifinals — Alex
I think we will make either quarters or Semis. If we get equador then semis and we lose to Argentina in a thriller. Messi captures the imagination and so does the kid Pulisic. The vets acquit themselves well and from our vantage point the event it's a success. If we get brazil in the QF then we go home a little disappointed but still not having embarrassed ourselves. — TheRealMisterJones
we know where we stand amidst South American teams...well below the big boys and well above the minnows. Won't crash out unless we face the big boys up front. — MVM
Hopefully I'm wrong, but I don't think the US is going to far past the group stage...great to have the experience playing teams besides CONCACAF to hopefully challenge us a little more. — Tom B
— JCW
Huge crowds, not huge results for US though — Mike22

pulisic is a god — Robert
A big deal? If you get to the final. Another chance at good competition without much at stake, like Confed Cup. — Josh
nymar j.r — yoji
It's a great marketing tool, but isn't really THE Copa America or the Gold Cup or the World Cup. If the US gets out of the group phase, that is about as far as they can realistically expect to go. — DL
Meh. Latin America is a declining cesspool in all areas of life, including soccer. And the USMNT under Klinsmann has deteriorated to a level not seen since the 80s. Pure garbage. Zero interest for this lame tournament, UEFA '16 is 100x more interesting and relevant. — kobach
